NRMA invests in Many Fast Ferry
The NRMA has announced an investment in Manly Fast Ferry as part of their strategy to become one of Australia’s largest providers of transport and tourism services. The investment will see NRMA take ownership of the exclusive fast ferry services to Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, Mosman, Watson Bay and popular whale watching and sightseeing tours.
Founding owners of Manly Fast Ferry, Will and Richard Ford, their management team and staff will remain a critical part of the operations of the business. The NRMA will now work closely with this team to drive the business forward, gain exclusive benefits for NRMA members and improve the experience of customers.
The investment quickly followed the company’s acquisition of Australian Tourist Park Management which resulted in NRMA becoming Australia’s second largest owner/operator of holiday parks. NRMA’s portfolio also includes Thrifty Australia & New Zealand, Travelodge Hotels and the development of its electric vehicle charging network.
NRMA Group CEO Rohan Lund said this significant investment demonstrated NRMA’s commitment to use its balance sheet to provide transport solutions to its Members and support Australia’s domestic tourism.
“The NRMA has a clear and unambiguous strategy to transform the organisation for the future and make this iconic Australian brand an essential part of the lives of anyone who needs to get around or loves a good holiday – nothing demonstrates this clearer than this significant announcement today… Manly Fast Ferry is fast, safe and extremely popular with its customers – three values that are synonymous with the NRMA over its 97 year history,” Mr Lund said.
NRMA Chairman Tim Trumper said Manly Fast Ferry was a key driver in boosting economic and tourism opportunities on the Northern Beaches, sending a clear message that while our history was around the automobile, our future represents this and much more.
“Manly Fast Ferry made the area instantly accessible to the rest of Sydney via a comfortable 18 minute boat ride and the benefits to the local economy and tourism are evident along the wharf and the broader Norther Beaches community… Providing the same opportunities to greater Sydney and coastal centres across Australia is a key priority for the NRMA,” Mr Trumper said.
Mr Richard Ford said the existing management team and staff were passionate about working with the NRMA to enhance the customer experience for all passengers of the Manly Fast Ferry services.
